Access Beyond began from my own challenging journey into higher education. Although I earned a place at my chosen university, I didn’t qualify for student finance. My family helped cover two years of tuition, but when they could no longer continue, I left university and worked in a dementia care home while volunteering at my local hospital. Those experiences confirmed that a hospital environment was where I was meant to be.

During my time at university, I also worked early morning cleaning shifts before lectures. These experiences shaped me, strengthened my faith, and brought lifelong friendships.

Everything changed when I stumbled upon the Article 26 scholarship while researching UK scholarships. My chosen university, a Sanctuary University, offered only three places each year—and I applied with full faith. That year, for the first time, they were offering the scholarship for NHS courses, and I was selected.

Today, I am a qualified Sonographer with a passion for supporting students. I know firsthand the emotional, financial, and physical challenges education can bring. Access Beyond was created to inform, advise, empower, and inspire students to pursue their goals despite any barriers.

In my lowest moments, I wrote a line that still guides me:
